Focus Birding is one of the local birding tour operator located at Carita Beach Banten Java Island Indonesia since we have launched our first tours in Java and Sumatra Indonesia. MUARA ANGKE & JAKARTA BAY

Muara Angke Nature Reserve and wildlife sanctuary is a protected nature conservation area at Kapuk Muara. Muara Angke Wildlife Sanctuary was protected since the colonial rule of the Dutch Indies on June 17, 1939, covering an area of 15.04 ha. During the 1960s, the conservation area was expanded to 1,344.62 hectares. Later, because of human pressure and environmental destruction within and around the national park, some of the mangrove forest area were destroyed. Key bird species : Javan Coucal, Black – winged Myna, Javan myna, Christmas Island Frigatebird, Javan plover, Milky stork, Bar-winged prinia, Sunda teal, Javan pond heron.

Common Redshank

Kawah Putih ( Sundanese ) or White Crater ( English ) is a crater lake  and tourist spot in a volcanic crater about 50 kilometres  south of Bandung West Java, Indonesia. Kawah Putih Lake  is one of the two craters that make up Mount Patuha, an andesitic stratovolcano (a “composite” volcano). Mount Patuha is one of numerous volcanoes in Java. Kawah Putih Crater Lake itself represents a relatively stable volcanic system with no records of significant activity since around 1600. Key bird species : Javan cochoa, Javan trogon, Javan tesia, Javan fulvetta, Javan flowerpecker, Javan scop owl, Javan grey-throated white eyes, Javan hawk eagle, Javan frogmouth, Javan whistling thrush, White-flanked Sunbird, Crescent-chested babbler, Pied shrike babbler, Pygmy bush tit and Volcano swiftlet.

Cibodas Botanical Garden is a 84.99 hectares, the botanical garden on the slopes of Mountain Gede, located in the Cibodas subdistrict of West Java, Indonesia. The garden was founded in 1852 by the Dutch botanist Johannes Teijsmann as a branch of Bogor Botanical Garden, and its layout was completed under Rudolph Scheffer in later year. Key bird species : Javan hawk eagle, Javan kingfisher, Javan fulvetta, Javan frogmouth, Flame-fronted barbet, Javan flowerpecker, Yellow-throated hanging parrot, Pied shrike babbler, Pygmy bushtit, Sunda thrush.

Mount Gede or Gunung Gede ( Indonesian ) is a stratovolcano in West Java, Indonesia. The volcano contains two peaks with Mount Gede as one peak and Mount Panggrango. This spot is one of the great for Birdwatching activity for highland category. Mountain Halimun Salam NationalPark is one the conservation area in the West Java, Indonesia Established in 1992, the park comprises two mountains, Mount Salak and Mount Halimun with an 11-kilometer forest corridor. It is located near the better known Mount Pangrango National Park. The park contains water catchment areas shielded from urban populations and agricultural areas to the north as well as several endangered animals and rare birds. Key bird species : Crescent-chested babbler, Javan hawk eagle, Javan leafbird, Javan sunbird, Flame-fronted barbet, Brown throated barbet, White-bibbed babbler, White-breasted babbler, Javan frogmouth, Melodious bulbul, Javan trogon, Spotted crocias, Javan bulbul, Banded broadbill, Salvadori’s nightjar, Bar-winged prinia, Eye-browed wren babbler, Javan cuckoo shrike.

Carita Forest Park or Carita Tahura is located on the east coast of Java along the main coastal road. It’s about 3 to 4  hours drive from Jakarta. Most of the forest around Carita consists of planted Eucalyptus that is poor for birding but a small patch of native forest remains. The latter is very good for a variety of lowland forest endemics. The best day time birding is along the main trail and any side trails. Key bird species : Javan frogmouth, Javan banded pitta, Javan black capped babbler, Javan owlet ( its rare ), Javan sunbird, Grey-cheeeked –tit babbler, Black-banded barbet, and Javan kingfisher, White-breasted babbler (its rare).

On the south western tip of the Island of Java, where the vast expanse of the Indian Ocean and the equatorial waters of the Sunda Straits merge, is one of Indonesia’s paramount national parks, Ujung Kulon, rich in wildlife and forest, noted for its charm and diversity, it is the home of the highly endangered Javan Rhinoceros and bestowed the status of UNESCO World Heritage ( Natural) Site. Way Kambas National Park is a national park covering 1,300 km2 (500 sq mi) in Lampung province of southern Sumatra, Indonesia. It consists of swamp forest and lowland rain forest, mostly of secondary growth as result of extensive logging in the 1960s and 1970s. Despite decreasing populations, the park still has a few critically endangered Sumatran tigers, Sumatran elephants and Sumatran rhinoceroses. It also hosts over 400 bird species.
